Built around one principle: understand the athlete in context.

The people behind Athlete1st

Athlete1st brings physical-performance expertise into the sporting environments where athletes are already learning, competing and developing.

Founder and head coach

Liam Colbon

Liam founded Athlete1st to give athletes and coaches something that is often missing: a connected process. Observation, investigation, programming and the strength and conditioning decisions behind development are brought together around the real sporting objective.

A former professional rugby league player with Wigan Warriors, Liam has spent more than thirty years inside sport as an athlete and coach. Across more than a decade leading Athlete1st, he has helped developing athletes progress towards junior international honours and supported young athletes, elite performers, coaches and committed recreational clients.

Golf is now the principal commercial application of the Athlete1st model. Liam works alongside Golf coaches to connect technical development with the movement, force, strength and readiness capacities that support it.

Five principles

How Athlete1st works.

Begin by choosing the right route.

Whether you are a private coach, an athlete or parent, a high-performance organisation, a community club or someone exploring suitable Campus use, begin by choosing the right route.
