Leave It Better is Athlete1st's community and grassroots route. We work with volunteer coaches, parent-coaches, schools and local clubs to make useful physical-performance knowledge more practical, understandable and easier to apply.
The aim is not to turn community coaches into strength and conditioning specialists. It is to raise the quality of the environment experienced by more young athletes.
Most young athletes are coached by someone giving up their evenings. Support them well and it reaches far more athletes than any single programme.
What is appropriate depends entirely on the environment, so the support is built around each one rather than handed over ready-made.
Understand what coaches actually face: time, confidence, facilities, equipment, communication and the demands of their athletes.
Translate appropriate physical-performance principles into something that can be delivered safely and realistically in that environment.
Provide workshops, practical activities, programme support and clear referral boundaries.
Help the coach use the ideas, learn what gets adopted and improve the support over time.
Which of these is useful depends on the sport, the age group and what the coaches in front of us are already dealing with.
Athlete1st helps grassroots coaches introduce practical, evidence-informed physical preparation intended to improve strength, movement capacity and readiness for the demands of sport.
Leave It Better is not a cheaper version of private Athlete1st Coaching. It is a community-impact route designed to improve the environment around many athletes.
Who do you coach, what support would be most useful and what practical constraints do you face? Leave It Better starts by listening before deciding what help is appropriate.
