Job Title: Assistant Future Athlete Coach
Reports to: Head Coach, Athlete 1st
Location: Athlete 1st Gym, Alderley Edge, Cheshire
Salary: Self-employed, with a guaranteed minimum of 4-8 coaching hours per week to start, with potential for growth.
Term: Part-time, with flexible working hours including early mornings and evenings.
The Role
Athlete 1st is an independent gym specializing in strength and conditioning for athletes of all levels, from our ‘Junior Athlete Pathway’ (starting at age 10) to those competing recreationally within our ‘Forever Athlete Pathway.’ Sessions are delivered from our gym in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, by a team of experienced coaches. We are looking for a new coach to join us and contribute to the next chapter of Athlete 1st’s journey.
Principal Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality group strength and conditioning sessions (8-10 per group) tailored to a range of abilities and goals.
Foster an environment where athletes can thrive and reach their full potential.
Support individuals with appropriate nutritional and recovery strategies to enhance performance and overall health.
Work closely with the Athlete 1st coaching team to ensure consistency in training methodology and athlete development.
Participate in ongoing professional development, including regular team meetings and workshops.
Opportunity to use the gym facilities for your own 1-on-1 personal training clients.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential:
At least ? years of previous coaching experience.
Valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Full UK driver’s license and access to transport.
Up-to-date First Aid qualification.
Full coaching insurance.
Availability to coach in the evenings and potentially weekends.
Practical knowledge of nutrition strategies and recovery practices to support performance and health.
Ability to consistently deliver engaging, effective, and safe S&C sessions to individuals of all ages and athletic backgrounds.
Desirable:
Undergraduate degree in Sport Science or a related discipline.
Previous experience working with youth and recreational athletes.
Experience coaching within a professional sports environment.
Experience coaching within a private gym environment.
